Ex-Tulsa coach to lead College of Charleston team

OKLAHOMA CITY --?

College of Charleston officials have chosen former Tulsa men's basketball coach Doug Wojcik to lead the men's basketball program at the South Carolina school.

Officials announced Saturday that a formal news conference will be held Wednesday to introduce Wojcik, whom school president George Benson called "an excellent fit for the College of Charleston."

The 47-year-old Wojcik spent seven seasons at Tulsa, where he became the head coach with the most wins in program history. He had a 140-92 record, but Wojcik never took the Golden Hurricane to the NCAA Tournament.

Tulsa athletic director Ross Parmley called Wojcik's firing on March 11 "a business decision," and said a change was needed.

Wojcik was an assistant coach at Navy, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Michigan State before taking the Tulsa job.
